Please show up hands

All those who think CSD people r freaks..Please show up hands..I know my hand is shot right up. If u r getting defensive now..I'll tell u why I see us IT developers as freaks:
-we have our own language & small terminology
-we always think we have a better way in reasoning things, always have an opinion on everything.
-we are way logic, suffocatingly analytical
-we like to see things in abstract form
-we like people to understand us fast with the least possible number of words, perhaps before we utter it!!
-we believe we can do better than anyone in his own field if we had the right mind to it
-we r a bit shy :)
-we probably don't have any activities other than developing, even if we do there's nothing better for us than a good PC with a good internet connection.
-we don't watch TV much, we think it's a waste of time but msn chatting is not.

I know the truth always hurts, but better be a freak who knows he is than in denial one :)

Microsoft WPF

I recently enjoyed the 5th MDC in cairo. Two sessions I enjoyed the most, one was about WPF the other was about Agile software development. So let me start by talking about the new framework: Microsoft's new framework 3.0 is about these four components:

WPF: Windows Presentation Foundation
WCF: Windows Communication Foundation
WF: WorkFlow
CardSpace: identity & login handling

I'll mainly talk about WPF some light talk. I'm trying to be more involved though.
You know that old textbox you've been using for the past 15 years, it has changed..yes!!. Everything is new in WPF. You can embed anything inside any control. For example you can make nested buttons. Images within a combo box. A list box showing live running videos and so on. Everything can integrate with anything.

What you need to start working with WPF is the .Net framework 3.0, Visual studio 2005, windows SDK and some extension for WPF
Or you can simply download Orcas (the new pre released Visual Studio having all the previous extensions integrated)
you can download everything you need, it's all under CTP (Community Technology Preview)

You can go wild with WPF, I also enjoyed the new designer "Microsoft Expression". Yeah and by the by, WPF is built on .Net framework 2 & DirectX for gaming area.

WPF is made for Vista but no complaints there, It can work fine with WinXP. Also there are virtual labs on MSDN if anyone is interested for some live trial. Lets think 3D desktop application, more rich web apps as well.

I Am She

For I am She who's weak
And I am She who's strong while trembling
I am She whose strength lies in her weakness
I am compassionate & I am cruel
I am pain & I am cure
I am She who lives mostly in her dreams
And outside She can't even breathe
I am incomprehensible & I am clear
I am She whom you can't hear
when She storms in fear
I am war & I am peace
I am vengeance & I am forgiveness
I have so many contradictions
I am everything in between
Except betrayal that's so mean
I am the breaking day beam shot up high
I am the night that breaks the well lit sky
I am contemporary & I am in memory
I am hope & I am hopeless
I live to cause a change & I am absolutely clueless
I am the happiest princess
Except there was no coronation
For I am She, the one you see
Walking by with a phony smile
Trying to hide the works of time
For I am She..The loss & the gain
Except there was no game

The Ballad Of Reading Gaol..My fav verses

He did not wear his scarlet coat,

For blood and wine are red,

And blood and wine were on his hands

When they found him with the dead,

The poor dead woman whom he loved,

And murdered in her bed.

I never saw a man who looked

With such a wistful eye

Upon that little tent of blue

Which prisoners call the sky,

And at every drifting cloud that went

With sails of silver by.

And strange it was to see him pass

With a step so light and gay,

And strange it was to see him look

So wistfully at the day,

And strange it was to think that he

Had such a debt to pay.

Yet each man kills the thing he loves

By each let this be heard,

Some do it with a bitter look,

Some with a flattering word,

The coward does it with a kiss,

The brave man with a sword!

Some kill their love when they are young,

And some when they are old;

Some strangle with the hands of Lust,

Some with the hands of Gold:

The kindest use a knife, because

The dead so soon grow cold.

Some love too little, some too long,

Some sell, and others buy;

Some do the deed with many tears,

And some without a sigh:

For each man kills the thing he loves,

Yet each man does not die.

The man in red who reads the Law

Gave him three weeks of life,

Three little weeks in which to heal

His soul of his soul's strife,

And cleanse from every blot of blood

The hand that held the knife.

And with tears of blood he cleansed the hand,

The hand that held the steel:

For only blood can wipe out blood,

And only tears can heal

Ah! happy day they whose hearts can break

And peace of pardon win!

How else may man make straight his plan

And cleanse his soul from Sin?

How else but through a broken heart

May God enter in?

NeverLand

The current citizens of NeverLand think I don't belong to it..that's y I'll never find it.
Why you may ask?, I'll tell u..It's all cos of my shiny happy outside looks. They believe that NeverLand only appears to those who are hopeless and in despair..If they only knew!!

I'm definite I'll find NeverLand even if its citizens think I don't belong, they'll finally come around.

Loss is No Disaster

The art of losing isn't hard to master;

so many things seem filled with the intent

to be lost that their loss is no disaster.

Lose something every day. Accept the fluster

of lost door keys, the hour badly spent.

The art of losing isn't hard to master.

Then practice losing farther, losing faster:

places, and names, and where it was you meant

to travel. None of these will bring disaster.

I lost my mother's watch. And look! my last, or

next-to-last, of three loved houses went.

The art of losing isn't hard to master.

I lost two cities, lovely ones. And, vaster,

some realms I owned, two rivers, a continent.

I miss them, but it wasn't a disaster.

Even losing you (the joking voice, a gesture

I love) I shan't have lied. It's evident

the art of losing's not too hard to master

though it may look like (Write it!) like disaster.
